Frequently asked questions

What AdventureCraft does, and how to get the most out of it at your table.

Getting started

What is AdventureCraft?

AdventureCraft is AI-powered session prep for tabletop RPGs. Describe your campaign and it generates a complete session: an outline with scenes, NPCs with motives and secrets, complications and rewards, plus stat blocks, character portraits, VTT tokens, battle and dungeon maps, and a Roll20 import package. Everything is generated for your specific campaign and stays consistent with what your table has already played.

Which game systems does it support?

5e (2024 and 2014 rules) is built in. You can also import your own rulebook — paste text or upload a PDF — and AdventureCraft compiles a system profile that shapes stat blocks, encounter balance, and even the character fields on your player roster. Narrative systems work too: if your game has no grid combat or stat blocks, those steps are skipped automatically instead of producing content that doesn't fit.

Can I use my own campaign setting?

Yes. Bring your setting as pasted text or an uploaded document, and it becomes a private setting pack that shapes every generation for that campaign — locations, factions, tone, and lore. Your uploads are licensed to your account only, are never shared with other users, and a compiled pack can be reused across your campaigns without re-importing.

Do I need a virtual tabletop to use it?

No. Session outlines, stat blocks, and art work at any table, in person or online. If you do play online, maps come as grid-aligned images that drop onto any VTT, and Roll20 users get a one-file import with characters, tokens, and dynamic-lighting walls.

Getting the most out of it

How does it keep my world consistent between sessions?

Feed it what actually happened. Before generating the next session, paste your notes or upload a transcript — most session recorders' caption files work directly. AdventureCraft updates NPC statuses, location states, faction progress, and campaign canon from your account of play, then generates the next session on top of that. This feedback loop is the single biggest lever: the more you tell it, the more the world remembers.

What if a generated session isn't what I wanted?

Steer it. You can give free-text direction before generating (tone, which threads to push, what to avoid), and afterwards you can regenerate any single piece — one scene, one NPC, one section — with direction, instead of rerolling the whole session. When you rewrite a piece, the rest of the plan is reconciled around your change so the session stays coherent.

Can I plan a longer story arc, not just one session?

Yes. Paste your campaign's story plan in plain prose and it becomes a story scaffold — arcs, phases, and story nodes the generator works toward. You can point any session at a specific node, and when you import session summaries, the scaffold tracks which beats have been played and which clues your players have found.

How do the maps work?

Two kinds: single-encounter battle maps and multi-room dungeon complexes where you choose the room count and theme. Layouts are generated procedurally — rooms, corridors, and doors are guaranteed to connect — then painted into finished art. Every map ships as a clean player copy plus a GM copy with numbered rooms and a room key, and you can repaint or restyle a map without redesigning its layout.

Can my players make their characters with it?

You can generate a roster of pre-made characters for your campaign and share a link — no account needed. Players open it on their phones, browse the characters with portraits, and claim one; your campaign roster updates automatically.

Pricing and your content

How much does it cost?

AdventureCraft uses simple prepaid credits — no subscription. Buy a pack, spend it on sessions, maps, and art; credits never expire, and anything that fails on our side is automatically refunded. Your first session is free: new accounts get enough bonus credits for a full session with art, no card required.

Who can see what I upload?

Only you. Imported settings and rulebooks are private to your account and are compiled into reference summaries in the tool's own words — your source material is never republished or shared with other users. Deleting your account removes your content.

Full credit costs are on the pricing page.
